2010 GUEST ARTIST

In addition to exposing participating students to structural engineering, EAA also is committed to strengthening the link between science and art. Every year EAA’s Awards Event presents a featured artist/group to inspire participating students. This year EAA hosted The ODC Dance Jam, a teen company of 13 performers, ages 15-18. The Jam performs the works of Artistic Directors KT Nelson and Kimi Okada as well as other well known guest choreographers. These teens are challenged with the creation of new works, high performance standards, and the goal to achieve the complexities of diverse dance styles. They train in both modern and ballet techniques, often share in the creative process, and are highly encouraged to create their own movement. The Jam performs in professional venues, schools and fundraisers for many social service organizations throughout the Bay Area.
